Onze slot tentoonstelling in het kader van de Synode heeft als thema taal. Pictura heeft drie beeldend kunstenaars uitgenodigd die in hun werk specifiek omgaan met taal als beeld, waar beide een gelijkwaardige rol spelen. Zij tonen nieuw werk, hun persoonlijke antwoord -in en met taal- rondom de thematiek van de Synode.

 Gracia Khouw heeft een verzameling aangelegd van ongeveer 900 twaalf letter-woorden, zoals donderwolken, moederschoot, onderwerping. Omdat het getal 12 een bijzondere rol speelt in de bijbel heeft zij precies twaalf van deze twaalf letterwoorden geselecteerd en uitgewerkt tot woordbeelden. In de tentoonstelling worden ze getoond als grote digitale prints en in de vorm van een leporello.

Niels Post gebruikt voor zijn werk Bijbelse en religieuze teksten die in zijn spamfilter terecht zijn gekomen. Uit de binnengekomen e-mails heeft hij zinnen geselecteerd en deze verwerkt tot sculpturale wandwerken van papier en hout.

Tanja Smit’s tekstwerken zijn tekeningen die onderhuidse structuren van teksten aan het licht brengen. Speciaal voor de tentoonstelling heeft ze haar procedures losgelaten op het verhaal over de zondvloed in de Statenbijbel. De werken zijn tevens grafische partituren voor twee bijzondere concerten in Pictura door Monica Akihary (stem), Han Buhrs (stem) en Orlando Aguilar (slagwerk).

Exhibition 'The Word' in Pictura / Dordrecht

Our final exhibition in the context of the Synod has language as its theme. Pictura has invited three visual artists who specifically deal with language as image in their work, where both play an equal role. They show new work, their personal response - in and with language - around the theme of the Synod.

Gracia Khouw has put together a collection of around 900 twelve acronyms, such as thunderclouds, mother's lap, submission. Because the number 12 plays a special role in the Bible, she has selected exactly twelve of these twelve acronyms and developed them into word images. In the exhibition they are shown as large digital prints and in the form of a leporello.

For his work, Niels Post uses Biblical and religious texts that have ended up in his spam filter. He selected sentences from the incoming e-mails and processed them into sculptural wall works of paper and wood.

Tanja Smit’s text works are drawings that uncover subcutaneous structures of texts. Especially for the exhibition, she has unleashed her procedures on the story about the flood in the States Bible.
