In XXXL, the letters of the word TOETERNIETOE are tilted, mirrored and turned upside down. The word almost sounds like the name of the building 'Tetterode' , except it has 12 letters and no letter ‘D’. It’s a composition that expresses the name in another visual word.
WEINER WALL is located in the reception hall of the Tetterode building, a former type foundry in Amsterdam, now used as a living- and work space. The interior is designed by architect K.P.C. De Basel. In 1993 the American artist Lawrence Weiner made an artwork on this wall with the text: As if it had not / As if it had not. The work was part of the hall for many years until 2000, by accident, was painted over.
