An afternoon in Huis de Pinto, november 2020

Amsterdam - For the reading room of Huis de Pinto, I’ll be making a text image on the wall that will grow over the course of the weeks. The texts are excerpts from conversations I’ll collect with people who have a warm heart for Huis de Pinto. The basis for the conversation is a quote from the book Dove mi trovo (Where I am now) by Jhumpa Lahiri.
A question in the book intrigues me : is there a place we are not passing through? It formulates a connection between language, place and personal history. Is the HdP a sheltered place where you are not passing through and make contact with others? And at present another relevant question is: what does an HdP mean as a meeting place in Corona time?

The exhibition CC#4 is centered around artists focusing on repetition, rhythm, and gestures with an emphasis on the moment and feeling of duration. For this occasion I made a wall painting for the ‘canteen’ wall.
